Abstract: Rolling mill bearing is an important part of rolling mill, its service life directly affects the operating cost and efficiency of the whole rolling mill system. This paper discusses the factors affecting the early failure of rolling mill bearing, and puts forward a series of effective measures to extend the service life of bearing.
Key words: rolling mill bearing; Service life; Control measure
The mill bearing is one of the core components of the mill stand, responsible for supporting the rotating roll and ensuring its precise position in the frame. Early failure of bearings not only affects production efficiency, but also increases maintenance costs. This paper will analyze the factors affecting the service life of rolling mill bearing and introduce the methods to extend its service life.
1. Factors affecting rolling mill bearing failure
The main forms of early failure of rolling mill bearings include raceway stripping, wear and corrosion. These failure forms are closely related to the design, installation and use conditions of bearings. Specifically, the factors affecting the service life of bearings can be divided into two categories: internal factors and external factors:
Internal factors: including bearing material selection, structural design and processing and manufacturing.
External factors: including the working speed of the bearing, the load, lubrication and cooling conditions.
2. Measures to improve the service life of bearings
2.1 Set the bearing seal reasonably
Due to the harsh working environment of rolling mill bearings, reasonable sealing measures are very important to prevent pollutants from entering the bearings. For example, waterproof rubber pads can be installed on the upper part of the vertical roll box, waterproof sealing rings can be installed at the bearing gland, and fluorine rubber skeleton seals can be used to prevent cooling water and oxide sheet from entering the bearing interior, thereby extending the service life of the bearing.
2.2 Choose the right lubricant
Good lubrication is the basis for ensuring the normal operation of bearings. The use of appropriate lubricants can reduce friction and damage to bearings, while also playing a cooling role to help eliminate excess friction heat generated during operation. Improving the oil circuit design of the bearing, such as adding an oil injection port on the inner side of the bearing, can improve the lubrication effect and increase the service life of the bearing.
2.3 Reasonable installation of rolling mill bearings
The correct installation of bearings is essential for their service life. For example, when installing four columns of cylindrical bearings, the outer ring of the bearing should be installed in the bearing housing in accordance with the transition fit. When installing the bearing inner end cover, first ensure that the stop is in place, and then use bolts to fix the end cover to the inside of the bearing seat. Ensure that there is no gap between the outer ring of the cylindrical bearing and the stop, and when installing the outer bearing end cap, ensure that the stop can withstand the other side of the bearing outer ring, and also maintain zero clearance. By installing the bearing in this way, the installation accuracy of the bearing can be improved, the failure rate can be reduced, and the service life of the bearing can be extended.
3. Conclusion
The service life of rolling mill bearing is affected by many factors, including internal factors and external factors. In order to extend the service life of bearings, it is not only necessary to choose high-quality bearing materials and reasonable design, but also to take appropriate installation and maintenance measures. Through the above analysis and the implementation of measures, the service life of bearings can be effectively improved, maintenance costs can be reduced, and production efficiency can be improved.
