Extending bearing life: a key issue to focus on

date:2025-03-13

Avoid over-pressing

When the bearing inner ring is forcibly installed on the journal, it may cause serious wear marks at the bottom of the raceway, and even crack or flake on the inner and outer rings and spheres of the slider in serious cases. In addition, if the clearance between the ball and the slider is too small, it will increase torque and friction, increase the operating temperature of the bearing, accelerate wear and fatigue, and eventually lead to bearing failure. To prevent this from happening, it is key to adjust the radial clearance of the bearing to reduce interference and ensure a proper fit between the bearing and the shaft.

The influence of poor lubrication and its detection method

Insufficient lubrication is also an important factor affecting bearing durability. If the bearing lacks enough grease or the grease ages and dries out, the temperature of the bearing will rise under the heat generated by the high-speed operation of the motor, resulting in the oxidation of a number of components, including the ball, cage, inner ring and its journal, and the color may turn brown or blue. In order to check the quality of bearing assembly, it can be done in the following two ways:

Visual method: After the bearing chamber of the motor end cover is installed, manually rotate the end cover. If the bearing can rotate freely and smoothly, without vibration or shaking up and down, the assembly quality is considered to be qualified.

Feeler check method: Install the motor end cap with bearing on the base, and use a 0.03 mm thick feeler to check the radial clearance of the bearing. If the maximum clearance is just above the center (for horizontally mounted motors), the assembly is correct and reliable; Otherwise, adjust the position of the end cover and reassemble it until it meets the requirements.

Through the above analysis, it can be seen that the core of extending the service life of the bearing is to ensure the proper match between the bearing and the shaft and maintain good lubrication conditions. Regular inspection of the assembly quality and lubrication state of bearings can effectively prevent these problems, thereby extending the service life of bearings.
